1962 - Murosky Family Christmas

Special thanks to all of my family who assisted with identifying the people in these photographs. Sometimes it truly takes a village to ensure our family history is preserved.

These photographs of the Murosky family were taken Christmas 1962. The family gathered at the home of Walter E. Niemi and Rita Ann Murosky. The photographs include four generations of he Murosky family.

The most iconic photograph of the group features Helen Tillie Bukowski with her grandchildren and her oldest great-grandchild. Included in the group photograph are:

Helen Tillie Bukowski is my great grandmother. Ronald Murosky, Robert Murosky, Kenneth Niemi, Janet Kubeja and Joyce Kubeja  are my 1st cousins 1x. James Arthur Murosky, Barbara Jean Murosky, Mary Helen Murosky, Kathleen Marie Murosky, Karen Murosky, Christine Elaine Murosky, Thomas Charles Murosky, Donald Gregory Murosky and Cheryl L. Murosky are my paternal aunts and uncles. David Anthony Murosky is my father. James Michael Petrone is my 1st cousin.

Loraine Anthony McDonald and Frances Philomena Selker are my great grandparents. They are the parents of my paternal grandmother Mary Eugenia McDonald. 

Family Photo: Leopold George Selker Jr.

Posted to the family photo album website today is a second photograph of Leopold George Selker, Jr. with his drum set. The first photograph is available here.

Leopold George Selker, Jr. was born 21 June 1918. He was the son of Leopold George Selker, Sr. (28 Sep 1891 - 10 Dec 1955) and Katherine V. Hartle (1894 - 01 Sep 1970). Leopold George Selker, Sr. was the oldest son of Joseph William Selker and Frances Philomena Guth.

His son Leopold indicated that his father played in Blue Baron's Band out of Cleveland and Philadelphia. He also played with Doc Weaver's Pennwood Orchestra and in a trio that backed Janet Blair (from Indian Falls Gap, PA). She was a big singer with Les Brown and later like Patti Page went the Hollywood route.

Leopold George Selker, Jr. is my 1st cousin 2x removed. He is a first cousin to my maternal grandmother Mary Eugenia McDonald. Joseph William Selker and Frances Philomena Guth are the common grandparents that link the cousins.
